Zane E - some of the pigs caught in the last couple of months on my uncle's property.

William - Recently as we were cleaning up paddocks ready for seeding we were noticing large amounts of fresh diggings in the creek lines and in the paddocks. One day as I was on the tractor, to my disbelief I saw a mob of roughly 9 large pigs with piglets. As the other workman was an experienced and keen pig hunter he rushed home to get his dogs. Later that night we went out and shot this boar. He weighed 230 pounds dressed (roughly 105kg dressed) and the two of us could only just lift him onto the back of the Landcruiser. The loader that the boar is hanging from is 12 tonnes with a 2.1 cubic meter bucket to give an idea of size. It took 2 shots to the neck from a .44 lever action rifle to stop the boar. We were very pleased with the 3 dogs and pup that managed to bay up the pigs as they were trying to protect the piglets. After a few unsuccessful hunting trips we thought it was not bad for my first pig. In total we ended up with 7 pigs for the 2 outings in the week, including one young boar that we caught during a lunchbreak! We are now pursuing a mob of 36 pigs sited in the area.

A Fletcher - couple of boars from Vic

Dan - Caught this afternoon off the ute, in thick lantana in a pine forest. South East Queensland.

Jeremy & Tomo - pigging in Mungindi NSW
